The Chin National Front (CNF) firmly believes that the military regime in Myanmar will be defeated by the opposition forces within three years.
In an interview with The Diplomat’s Rajeev Bhattacharyya on February 6, CNF vice chairman Dr. Sui Khar said that the junta would be toppled in less than three years across the entire country. He added that the results of the ongoing war between the opposition and regime forces would be apparent within two years.
The vice chairman spoke on a host of issues about the resistance movement in Myanmar, from the problems faced by the resistance groups to the role of the opposition National Unity Government (NUG). The interview was conducted at Camp Victoria in Myanmar’s Chin State, which is the military headquarters of the CNF’s armed wing, the Chin National Army (CNA).
Thousands of fighters belonging to the resistance groups from Chin State and Sagaing Region have been trained at the camp over the past two years. The CNF is also affiliated with the National Unity Government (NUG), the government-in-exile formed by elected representatives and members of ethnic minority groups.
Camp Victoria was bombed by jet fighters for two consecutive days on January 10 and 11, killing five CNA functionaries, including two women.
